Can College Visits Start Too Early?

Okay, we have to admit that at the age of 2 we cannot seriously think that we have to worry about college, but then again in state tuition is very attractive! With the savings fund established and growing larger with each month we decided to take our first college visit to The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Growing up in Sanford the school is about 30 minutes away on 15-501 and has been a staple in the Kennedy household for years! Charlie Choo-Choo Justice, Michael Jordan, Lawerence Taylor, Mia Hamm....the stars are too many to name and the memories are still fresh and yet the campus has remained a very special place for education. Founded as the first public institution of higher learning in 1793 there is something special as you walk on the same hallowed ground as students have for over 200 years.

Saturday night we took in the first football game of the Butch Davis era. Davis, a great college coach with national championship credientaisl did not disaapoint! UNC ran all over James Madison, much to Ann Marie's dismay. As a JMU grauate she supported her team as well as she could, but with Savannah totally emersed in Carolina Blue with pom-poms flying it was a tough task! We went to the game with Amanda and Chris, friends of ours for many years who are diehard Carolina fans. The tailgating was top notch with all the trimmings and Mango Vodka too boot! Thanks for the drinks Amanda! Along with two of their close friends who just moved back to North Carolina we had great time until way into the night. As the fireworks went off in the distance for each score, we departed as the 4th quarter started and Savannah's little eyes started to shut. Carolina closed out the night with a 37-14 win and we took a quiet ride back to Holly Springs with thoughts to UNC Medical School still fresh in our mind. Hey, someone is going to have to keep us up in our old age! But until then......
