Summer Time in the Carolinas!
So, I felt it had been long enough since our last update and decided to give everyone a recap of the last month! It started out with Savannah beginning day care. The transition went smoothly and Savannah seemed to really enjoy her new found friends and teachers. Unfortunately, we hit a small speed bump on the 4th of July. While playing, Savannah took a hit from the swing set and the swing set won! We broke our collar bone! So - our 4th of July was spent in the local pediatric emergancy room viewing the fireworks over the TV in the exam room. But, thankfully, the break has healed and we are well on our way back to full time 2 year old play!
Of course, during this time, I had to make a trip half way around the world to India and then to the UK. Sorry I don't have any pictures of either but suffice it to say - I'll visit the UK again but I'll pass on India. I was expecting the large amounts of people in the city but was not prepared for the level of poverty and dirt that was in the city. It makes you appreciate the things you have!!
Now, for more recent milestones - Savannah is no longer in her crib! I have to admit, it was me that was relunctant to take her out of it - I like the idea of safe containment when I am downstairs and she is upstairs! And, I guess deep down, I don't want her growing up so fast!! But, I decided it was time to give it a try. So, the crib was converted to a toddler bed with a Cookie Monster/Elmo bed rail set up to prevent nighttime accidents! So far, so good. Savannah loves the fact that she can not climb into her bed versus being put in her bed, but still feels she is safe. So, let's hope this sucess continues!!! The next step will be a full size bed - but for now - I enjoy this one little step towards growing up and hold on to her for just a little longer.
And lastly, we are all happy to welcome Savannah's new cousin, Carrie Ellen, to the family! Carrie Ellen joins us from China too and we are all very happy to have her here with us today! We had a baby shower today to meet her and of course Savannah enjoyed seeing a new "mei mei" in the family!
Well - I won't ramble too long and I'll post pictures - which is probably what you all want anyhow. Plus, I got the last Harry Potter book on Saturday and it has been staring at me all weekend and I am anxious to read the final installment and find out what happens to my favorite wizard!!
Until the next post.....
Ann Marie (don't ruin the ending of book 7 for me!), Michael (I have to go where in Iowa??) and Savannah (I can talk in complete sentances now)!!!!
